Measurement of PlanetLab experimental network
Andrašov, Ivan ; Bečková, Zuzana (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
This thesis deals with measurement of transfer parameters for nodes in experimental network PlanetLab. In theoretical part of this thesis we analyse experimental network PlanetLab, basic terminology in this network, its goals and some current projects run- ning under this network. Next we analyse measured network parameters specifically Ping, SSH delay and respond to SCP. Practical part of this thesis is formed around real im- plementation of measurement where in specific sub chapters are written exact problems of said parameter together with source code.
Optimization of network position prediction
Pospíšil, Petr ; Pfeifer, Václav (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
This work is about position prediction in network, it is focused to find Landmark closest to the Host in the network (with lowest distance vector). The algorithm is based on GNP system. In terms of GNP system simulation was selected method for mathematical part of position prediction. The method was Simplex Downhill. The designed algorithm was implemented in Java. In the first step chose Host continent by meassuring the distance vector. In next step is selected nearest part in the continent. In conclusion estimate Host its position and then closest Landmark. Results from this work is important for designing TTP protocol. The verdict is that the GNP can be used for TTP, but Landmarks must be located in uniform density.
Detection of anomalies in network traffic using compression methods
Blažek, Libor ; Dvořák, Jan (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
The objective of the thesis is to design a practical demonstration of the functionality of selected compression methods. The following chapters will discuss the attacks on terminals and mentioned some measures. The show will be processed using two methods development environment. The attacks will detect anomalies in the network and subsequently carried out at one of the sample data compression methods. Data will be collected as normal operation at the terminal station, and then in the attack.
Monitoring of communication properties in Internet
Iľko, Pavol ; Červenka, Vladimír (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
This thesis deals with measuring transmission parameters of the Internet network, in particular latency of ping, SSH protocol and bandwidth. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. Theoretical part describes PlanetLab network, its brief history and contemporary projects. At the same time, tools for data mining from web pages are described. These information obtained from the theoretical part are used for creating PlanetLab nodes list and for programming applications which measure the network transmission parameters. Applications, list of nodes and obtained data are attached on DVD disc.
Host distance measurement using ICMP protocol in IP networks
Fojtová, Lucie ; Komosný, Dan (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
Current internet more and more often faces the problem of the right definition of distance between the single hosts. The knowledge of this quantity influences the areas of the optimal lay-out of overlay multicast networks, the right selection of peer-to-peer network participant, or the simple decision of the end user: which one of the nearest mirrors to use for downloading datas. The nearest one doesn't have to mean the nearest in geographical point of view - the distance on Internet is usually expressed by quantities as latency or bandwidth. All these examples have got the saving of bandwidth in common and therefore economical saving. The methods of host position prediction in networks work on the basis of measuring latency parameter. The tools for measuring of this parameter will be set up in this thesis and at the same time it will be shown how geographical distance and latency correspond with each other.
Verification of PlanetLab servers location
Pružinský, Ján ; Verner, Lukáš (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the nodes of PlanetLab network. The analysis is focusing mainly on verifying the availability of nodes and on verifying the physical position of nodes. Individual nodes are tested for availability of ICMP protocol and SSH protocol. Availability of ICMP protocol is verified by using ping program. The main part of the thesis is devoted to verifying the addresses of nodes. Identified addresses are compared with entered addresses and the resulting conformity is evaluated at the level of the state, county, city and streets. Precision of specified address estimation is calculated based on given GPS coordinates. This thesis also deals with the dividing of nodes based on calculated usability index and accuracy index. The theoretical part contains a description of an experimental PlanetLab network and Google Geocoding API.
Measurement of communication latency in IP networks
Bednář, Vít ; Vrba, Kamil (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
Semestral thesis is focused on measurement of communication delay in networks. There is described creation of individual kinds of delay during the transfer in networks. Tools for measurement of delay are described and web pages are designed and made too. There is measured delay on choose 27 IP address with help of this page.
Implementation of open source system for network monitoring
Scripnic, Dmitrii ; Sládok, Ondřej (referee) ; Grenar, David (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with network monitoring. In this work, a theoretical analysis of known monitoring systems was performed and their architecture, properties and work with these systems were also described. Subsequently, a comparative characteristic of all described systems was performed. At the beginning of the practical part, the installation and configuration of all monitoring systems and their evaluation was performed. The second part deals with the Zabbix monitoring system, where more emphasis was placed on monitoring IP service delays.
Estimate of data strem delay during transit through network device
Dopita, Michal ; Komosný, Dan (referee) ; Verner, Lukáš (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the issue Estimation of delay during the data flow going through network device. There is analyze of network parameters, which influent final delay, detection of delay in data networks and types of delay in the network. The practil part is focused on development of the software, which performs the estimation of delay. At the end there is a summary of the whole thesis and evaluation of measurements.
Use of optical cable properties for geolocation in the Internet
Chmelař, Jakub ; Verner, Lukáš (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
This thesis deals with the IP geolocation which estimates the geographic location of hosts in the Internet network. The knowledge of geographic location can be used both for targeting specific services and information, such as advertisement or weather forecast, and for better utilization of transport network because it is possible to serve content from sources which are located closer to client. The main topic of this thesis is the Speed of Internet geolocation method (SOI), which is an active method based on measurement of latency in network. The theoretical part of the thesis explains how to perform these measurements and briefly describes a few more active geolocation methods. The practical part includes full description of SOI implementation created using Python programming language. This implementation was subsequently used to accomplish a sequence of measurements which allowed accuracy comparison with other geolocation methods. The final part of this thesis evaluates results of these measurements and offers a few possible changes which could improve accuracy of described implementation.
